Boom Market in Baby Boomer Travel
With over 80 million boomers running around the US, the baby boomer market is a growth market for the travel industry.
Here’s a couple of things you need to understand about baby boomers if you want to capitalize in this market:
1. Travel is a must do
This is great for the travel industry and the other good thing is that boomers travel no matter what state their finances are in. They just cut down on the luxuries perhaps.
2. Boomers travel more than their parents
They have a keen desire for adventure. When they were kids they would explore things on their bikes. Now they seek adventure travel to far off exotic places. They like physical exertion as well.
3. Boomers want to have fun
They want to laugh and have fun. There’s no better way to do this than to travel with your friends. Although many boomers dislike travelling in groups, when it’s their friends they don’t mind.
4. Boomers like to be made to feel special
They like the best of everything no matter whether they are travelling in luxury or on a budget. It’s important that they are recognised, acknowledged. Do this and they’ll come back for more.
5. Boomers are time deprived
Because they are poor savers, boomers tend to work longer and harder. So when they holiday, they pre plan well in advance. They also like to visit places that have spas and can partake in a massage. They want to relax. Recharge the batteries.
Take these truths into consideration when promoting travel to boomers and you’ll have a thriving business. At 80 million strong, baby boomers can’t be ignored.
